COST ANALISYS IN MICROSYSTEMS ENGINEERING

Product development involving microsystems requires an understanding of the underlying cost structure of the technologies involved. This course reviews cost analysis techniques and its applicability to the case of assessing the commercial viability of microsystem engineered products. Special emphasis is placed on the impact of capital equipment and the viability of fab-less modes of operation in light of the significant back-end costs of micromachined devices.
